Back From The Dead.... Anglia Street Roddin'

Started as an Anglia panel dragster.

Then was going to be stock.

Then turned into pickup.

Now it's going to be a hot rod pickup!

Just a fun fact. I cut the rear half of the body off with a hacksaw.

You have a fairly good hacksaw. The blade on mine is so wavy I get seasick.

Rear tires are going to be Goodyear Rally GTs. The wells, however, weren't big enough to fit these. That's pretty small. So I decided to tub them. This is my first time ever making tubs, and it came out pretty well.

I was still playing around with engines last night. Found a Ford 427 SOHC in a Willys panel wagon, but it's too big for the Ang without some mods. Seems the flathead will be the best, unless I happen to get a nailhead Buick. Two straight pipes out the back is what I'm thinking for exhaust.

Did a lil more work earlier. I really have no suspension parts, nor do I really care about them... I put two bars that the rear axle sits on without springs or absorbers. It's gonna be a tough ride, to say the least. The whole thing is going to be dipped once I attach everything I want, then sprayed flat black. Then I'll mask off the interior and chassis, then spray body color.

I know I'm doing this backwards, but it all started with the dang seat. I made it and glued it in without thinking. It's too big to pull out without disassembling it or taking out the tonneau cover and rear wall, so now I'm doing a bassackwards build and gluing before painting.

What color do you all think this should be? I'm not sure if I want silver with red scallops or something else.

Color is a hard thing to decipher. Do you mean the rear axle assembly, or the whole thing. That green sucks though. Either way.

Don't worry about one side hanging down a bit, if it's too tough to fix now, grind the hubs of the wheels and glue the ship out of them. Me and snafu are buddies.

nice work on the tubbs,i really like were its heading,I started 1 of these about 20 years ago,had the frame and the paint done,my dog decided he liked the rear doors and chewed them up.I never did finish it..Keep at this 1 .

I have this model in the cabinet waiting too, but I'm having trouble with the size of the hinges on the doors. I'm thinking about just gluing everyting shut and painting the green away.

I agree that a dark color would look good.

Stan, maybe the dog was communicating and you weren't listening. You know, I was building a wooden tall ship quite a few years back, and a little puppy we just adopted had found the rudder and bit into the thing with those sharp, needle-like puppy teeth. 18 years later the doggy died and I found the rudder piece in the box with the rests I'd saved. I see this rudder every day since as I've placed the piece on the wall with the other ships and other small membrances.

Miles, do anything, but the green has to go!
