Need .005" Purple PVC Or Another Idea

I posted this on the wanted forum, but I think this is the forum most likely to help me as many drag cars from the 60's had windows tinted in rainbow colors. I need half a sheet of .005" transparent purple sheet plastic. Midwest Products used to make it, but now they only make .010" thick and that won't work for my application.

Or if someone else has an idea on tinting windows purple I'm all ears. I've used Tamiya clears to tint windows with varying results over the years.

Hi Jeff, I seem to remember someone suggested add food dye in the color you desire to future floor polish liquid and dipping clear plastic in it. I've never tried it, but that might be worth a couple dollars to see if it works.

I had to use purple tinted windows for build of my daughters van and ended up using a clear purple notebook cover from Staples.

Yes, you can add food coloring to Future; I tinted chrome wheels that way. I tried it on windows but I found it difficult to control how the liquid settled on the glass. With the compound curves, the color would tend to settle, just like paint running, in the lower areas.

Try this.. overhead transparency film.. and rit dye.. hot water to nearly boiling. it's about .005" thick.

I'm pretty sure it will work.. so much so that i'm going to buy some black dye tonight because i have a tinting job i need as well.. from what i've read transparancy film is a different kind of plastic that can absorb the dye.. unlike lexan or something like that.

I'll find out for certain by the end of the weekend. It's kind of funny this thread popped up, because i've been waiting for the day to get over so i can get to the store and get some black rit dye for my project! (i already have the transparancy film..i use it a lot)
