chunkypeanutbutter Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) A community build idea: out of your comfort zone. Muscle builders build ricers.... Stock builders do customs.... Shiny builders do rusty.... One I really like is lefty people build a car painting, cutting, etc. with their right hand and vice versa for righties Edited January 9, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
Pim Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Sounds like a cool idea I build rat rods so building a shiny show car would take me out of my comfort zone I will have to see what I can find so I'm in
Roadrunner Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 If I were to use an X-Acto in my left hand, I'd probably lose my right hand.
Pim Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 is this still going ahead Miles if so I am in with a Hilux lowrider
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Sure! I'm going to do the lefty thing when I get something that's more-or-less a throwaway kit.
Pim Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Sweet as soon as I get the kit I bring up some pictures
Jantrix Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 One I really like is lefty people build a car painting, cutting, etc. with their right hand and vice versa for righties Well if you really want to see the most screwed up model in modeling history I could try working with my left hand. But frankly, the darn thing isn't good for anything.

But frankly, the darn thing isn't good for anything. Whatever it is, it'll probably come out better than the best Palmer kit. I'll probably end up getting a snapkit. My LHS has a few Fords and some others. There's a Firebird Ram Air that was marked down to $9 which I was considering getting just for the LS1 engine... Curbside build? knarf Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 so would non-stock builder doin a box stock build qualify?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 so would non-stock builder doin a box stock build qualify? Yeah. That would be a challenge for me, too. Go for it!
Jantrix Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Hmm.......................I do such a variety of stuff that I'm not sure what would be outside my comfort zone. That's not bragging, just an observation. If anyone has the time, maybe look through my album and make a suggestion?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 Maybe a tuner? I saw all American iron there. Something really awful, like a riced-out Eclipse, or maybe a jacked-up Escalade filled with stereos and scissor doors
webestang Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I've built 99% cars and a few trucks but I have a really neat helicopter kit I found at a flea market, I think it's Russian??

Something really awful, like a riced-out Eclipse, or maybe a jacked-up Escalade filled with stereos and scissor doors I've got a riced out Pacer in the works for the Cannonball, and the other.....................................ugh. Outside comfort zone I'm okay with but not outside the realm of good taste. I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe something non-auto.
Pim Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Change my entry to a kenworth I never build trucks so it will be a challenge
MeatMan Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Sounds like a nice idea. I've never done a resin build but I have a couple of resin bodies I've been afraid to tackle. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 (edited) Ill jump in on this. I usually build shiney show trucks, so ill try building a dirty truck. Ive started already, its a tandem build. 2 AMT Diamond Reos. Heres the shiney, still in process Heres the frame, cab and hood of the dirty. Hood stil needs dirtying up Edited January 15, 2015 by Petetrucker07
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Nice beater rig! I still have not found any finance for a kit, but when we next get into town I might find a snapkit to do. And yes, hopefully those packages will be going out then, too
Petetrucker07 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 No worries. Hope i get some more done this weekend. I think it should be a nice weekend, weather wise.
MeatMan Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 No worries. Hope i get some more done this weekend. I think it should be a nice weekend, weather wise. Yeah well, we've got a winter weather warning that says 8"-12" of snow! I'm not jealous though. I'm not, I'm not. The hell I'm not!
Petetrucker07 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 This weekend is another story. It's cold windy and rainy at times. I know nothing compared to other parts of the country.
anarximis Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 i actually started this with out knowing (i got into building rusty rigs and now i am building a custom rig) and there are some pic in the workbench its called amt peterbilt 352 cabover or something close to that
