ratdoggy Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Anyone do race car haulers? I'm looking for some ideas.....Any kind at all. Vintage, NASCAR, Drag, Salt flats either pictures of real or a done model would be helpful Thanks in advance
unclescott58 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I have several in the wings waiting to built. But, what kind of race car haul are you look to talk about? Trucks like AMT's Ford LN 8000 Race Car Hauler? Or trailers like the ones offered by Galaxie and others? There are a lot choices out there. I do have one built. The old AMT/Ertl Blueprinter trailer. Scott
unclescott58 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Oh... I forgot. I also have the latest reissue of MPC's Daytona Transport Truck built. Scott
bobthehobbyguy Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Also there was the amt kraco indy hauler. Looked on ebay and they are cheap.
kilrathy10 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I build these basic race trailer shells.....Ready for paint and interior detailing.....Depending on what you're looking for....They are 1/24 scale of 53'ers.....Triple axles or doubles.....I generally build these for trade....Just PM me, if you're interested.....
traditional Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) My brother, Larry built this 1/24 '60s era hauler using a postwar Studebaker 1 1/2 ton chassis/cab to haul my Studebaker C/Gasser. Edited November 11, 2014 by traditional
heepey Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Here is one I built using the Model King Racers Wedge, a resin cab and an AMT Snap Kit Chassis. And another in the works from an IMC Dodge L-700 and a lot of Evergreen stock. A very old build cut from a MPC Dodge van And the Galaxie 24" Tag-a-long with a GMC pulling. However none of these are as nice as the Studebaker setup! Edited November 13, 2014 by heepey
checkmate Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 My brother, Larry built this 1/24 '60s era hauler using a postwar Studebaker 1 1/2 ton chassis/cab to haul my Studebaker C/Gasser. Wow that's a really nice set up mate.
Truck parts Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Dan,What wheel's did you use on the racer wedge and snap kit build?
heepey Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 They are resin copies of the wheels in the 1/32 Japanese school bus kit from some years ago. RMR has resin kits of that bus with various American truck fronts. I just looked at their webpage and the wheels in their kits look different.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I have a kinda bizarre one in progress, inspired by wild showcars of the '60s. Fully enclosed trailer, twin-blown Viper power.
keyser Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Cool. Orange Cratey. Dragula scoops and 64 cutlass blower drives, E type bumpers? 240Z HL buckets, Silhouette trailer, AMTronic bits, Very cool. .. Love wheels, need some. Hess Motorhome needs upgrade from what I swapped to before. Hood making me nuts, as is body. Longitudinal sectioned Viper? Lots of thrash on that.
DR JAY Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 ...Not very glamorous...I just commenced working 2 days ago on a conversion of the AMT LN 8000 hauler kit to a C series cabover to replicate the Ford Drag Racing Team clinic truck/trailer/Mustang/Torino combination. All doors have been opened, the frames constructed and the interior is being fabricated for opening doors and the cool sleeper unit... ...where to display this massive project upon completion will likely cause strife with the wife...
gtx6970 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 If I can ever come up with a couple of the long dis-continued Resin kits. I want to do a few such as these
Sixties Sam Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Here's one I'm finishing up to haul a Revell Kurtis midget. It's a resin COE Willys cab on a 39 Chevy chassis. The bed is built from sheet styrene and an old pickup tailgate with 39 Chevy fenders. It tilts back to load/unload the racer. I used the base of the trailer in the Kurtis kit for the floor of the truck bed. I'm working on the midget now.
kilrathy10 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) Those are some Killer looking haulers, Bill....The one you built, Sam, looks really cool, too......And the Tommy Ivo truck is something that I've only come to knowledge of recently.....The one Juergen did is pretty awesome, though..... Superpeterbilt Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 If I can ever come up with a couple of the long dis-continued Resin kits. I want to do a few such as these Modelhaus makes the Dodge D100 cabs that be used for this

NICE trailers! Do you have any more pics, like of the interiors? Where do you attach these to?
kilrathy10 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) NICE trailers! Do you have any more pics, like of the interiors? Where do you attach these to? Well, Buddy....I don't do the interiors for those, as these are just shells, but I did do one in 1/16 scale that I would use the same principals on..... Here's one that I'm going to do the interior for the Subaru Rally Team....I leave the top of the trailer removable....This will have a full interior....Hope to start on it top of 2015....
