kruleworld Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 After building my "Half-Life Muscle Car" i had a left over front half of a dodge charger. this is what i made of it. Australians are obsessed with coupe-utility style vehicles, so i made it like a Holden ute, with the tray fused with the cab. I used an El-Camino tray with the Charger front half. Engine bay: the slant six was already built. i'd had it in my spares for years and just plonked it in. chassis: i bodged the suspension to ensure proper stance, using styrene tube for the front and hiding them with scratchbuilt A arms. I replaced the short axle in the rear with a styrene tube, but used the elcamino diff, coils and arms. exhaust is a tube, with Charger's muffler.
kilrathy10 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 What an interesting build.....Nice "What if" project.....Looks really cool....
unclescott58 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Neat! Not sure of the rear bumper or the color. But, the rest is really cool. Scott
Danno Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I'm getting to the point of not even wanting to comment on a model with a hood that doesn't fit. There seem to be a lot of them lately. Is that so difficult to fix? There was a prolific builder (not this OP) who invested great amounts of time and effort on body modifications and conversions, and did reasonably good work. But every single one of his models had a hood that did not fit - huge gaps or warped panels or mis-fitting contours. It seemed to be his signature. Your model, Walter, looks good on the whole, but it would look 100% better if the hood fit properly. And, this really is meant in the spirit of constructive criticism, not 'bashing.' The mis-fitting hood problem just seems to be far more common than it should be, for such a simple flaw to fix. {Flame suit on.}
misterNNL Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I believe I might have called it an"Elchargero".
kruleworld Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Your model, Walter, looks good on the whole, but it would look 100% better if the hood fit properly. I hear you, and i did try to fix it. i actually reshaped the hood before final assembly and got a good fit, but i think the hinges hit the dash or something under the cowl, because i couldn't for the life of me get the darn thing to sit down. it fits, but it pops back up as soon as i let it go.
TFchronos Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Awesome and interesting idea, looks great!
