I'll plod along Carl, and although at times it doesn't seem like it, I'm probably closer than I think. (Really?) Right now I have to take everything apart, clean off the Liquitape and see where I'm at again. Thanks for the encouraging words.

There is another option for the frame and tub,........................................................................... B) (and it's on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had much time to check in on these threads, but now I was able to go through the latest updates and I have to say that this is looking very good! Nice paint work and mock ups look very good as well. The stance on that 2nd picture looks spot on to me. I can't wait to see more of this.

If you dont mind me asking what are the contents of the "purple pond". And by freezer do you mean like the literall kitchen one?

Not to take over but i think i should explain my problem.

Im trying to rescue a vintage snake and mongoose model and dont have any idea how to strip the paint and chrome, its decent but i would kie to redo it and make it a show-worthy model.

Thanks in ahead of time for any help

Thanks Riley, I just dropped the frame and tub from Speed City Resin in some Super Clean five minutes ago, will let it soak overnight, so , I should have some things to update in a couple of days. The weather prediction here starting Friday and lasting for the next seven days (unheard of in these parts) is conducive to painting, if that holds out I hope to make some real progress on this, and , one other build I have going. Yes! I hear my can a rattlin'

This is an actual update, it's been a while. I bit off more than I was ready to chew on this resto, it's testing my styrene metal that's for sure. Got the frame, tub, rear end, springs, shocks and sub-frame painted. Those rear springs are beauties aren't they? I don't know if I'm going to use the steering wheel pictured, after futher viewing of the PDA Plymouth, I think the kit steering wheel is actually closer to what was used, minus the holes of course which, I'm not going to fill,

I added spacers cut from round styrene stock to each side of the rear end to give it a wider track, I have some for the front end too. I'm sure there's something I've forgotten, nothing is glued together yet. All comments are appreciated and welcome!

From the bottom, we have Tamiya Light Gun Metal for the frame (I messed with the color badly for this photo), Dupli-Color Universal Black on the front springs and sub-frame, and Tamiya semi-gloss black for the rear end.

Front Springs:

From the rear  :

Parts is parts, the shocks are Dupli-Color Cardinal Red:

That's all folks! Thanks for stopping by! Keep your lamps trimmed and burning!

(I knew there would be something I forgot), Yureka, it's the tub! The roll bar will be Model Master Stainless Steel Metalizer with sealer:

Thanks Stephen, It may be that I am making progress. The next step is to do the front axle, there are other options but I'm just going to use the kit axle, that way the brake rotor's aren't touching the wheel assembly at all! :o Then comes the engine, which , was assembled using Mico-Scale Liquitape, which needs to be removed with paint thinner after it's dried, not fun to me. My recommendation, don't use the stuff for a full engine mock-up. I wish someone would come up with a glue that actually holds styrene securely, that can be cleaned off with just water, I haven't found anything yet that 'really' does that, it's been 'sort of like that' so far. My LHS guy told me to use that 'Blue Tack' stuff for mock-uips, anyone have any experience with that?

Thanks Carl, I wasn't sure about the color choices, glad you like them, seemed kind of drab to me but there will be plenty of color in other places. The engine is going to be either Tamiya Italian Red, or , some kind of Hemi Orange with 'flat red' headers.

Bravo Gene. You're a good man for hanging tough. Nice work on the paint too. Everything looks neat and clean.

Have you tried Elmer's glue for mock-ups? It works for me and peels right off (for the most part) after it comes apart..

Good luck with the rest of the build.

I wish i would have used silvers when i did my Ratpacker interior and chassis. i will on my Mustang. Tamiya Italian red or Hemi Orange both sound good....

Carl, I was going to use white on the door sides of the tub but didn't. I'm debating whether or not to use some kind of blue for the dash and steering wheel to approximate a stock factory blue, because the PDA (Plymouth Dealers Association) car used stock Barracuda stuff for the interior; dash, steering wheel and door panels, it even had carpet! Oh well, we'll see. I can't wait to see red/orange headers on the car. The final push on the engine should start in a few days.

Joe, from what I can tell after reading more about Kristal Klear, it washes off with water 'until it sets' just like Liquitape, which most likely means you're messing with paint thinner to get it off. I think maybe the trick is to use as little as possible for mock-up purposes.

Thanks for posting you guys!

I just looked at interior colors on the Hamtramck site and I may go with black for the dash and steering wheel. Carl, you were right on the money man! And i already have Tamiya 'black' paint, in a rattle can of course.

Gee, I still need to separate the roll bar assembly from the frame I 'was' going to use. It's going to be black too, so I can paint them all together.

The front axle from a AMT '53 Ford Pickup Street Machine looks like it might just be what I need to widen the track up front, I can use the spindle/hub assembly from the kit axle, yes! From what I can see in pics and have read, there were no front brakes on the PDA car, it had rear discs.

Well, here it is, another update, in a matter of days! Looks like the axle from the '53 Ford Pickup Street Machine kit just might work,. it's actually much closer to the front axle used on the PDA car than the kit axles in the rear engine cars. I think I can make it work. I cut off the attached leaf springs and some other stuff, getting it, and , the tie rod ready for,.........Alclad! The kit (HUG-Hemi Hustler-Chezooom) axle and the kit tie rod are shown as well. The plan at this point is to cut off the hub assembly/brake discs (or, whatever the round things are 'supposed' to be) from the kit axle, drill the appropriate sized holes and mount them on the Ford axle, hope it works, if not,.....I'll do something else!
