MrObsessive Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) (I love "retro" styling) Someimes I think the whole industry should go retro! Some of the things I see on the road that are supposed to be "new" are just horrible! Harry, did you get your new Mustang yet? That's another one I've drooled over as there's one in my neighborhood now. Edited January 2, 2015 by MrObsessive
Bennyg Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 For car people, It's always best to have a car you're passionate about. More inclined to keep it clean and serviced. Cheers. Ben
Zarana-X Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Very nice. This is the best "retro-styled" car. They got it right. Good call passing on those Nissans. The Rogue and Altima both use a CVT transmission that's pretty buggy, after about 3-4 hours of driving it overheats, goes into "limp mode" limits the revs, and wont go over 35 MPH. It will keep acting buggy, until it sits long enough to totally cool off. They wont recall it, because no service dept is going to drive it long enough to replicate the problem.
Harry P. Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Harry, did you get your new Mustang yet? Probably going to hold off until spring. But then for sure...
FASTBACK340 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 NICE!!!!!!!!! Good luck with the Challenger Bill!
jjsipes Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) Bill, just seen your purchase of a Challenger. Congrats. I ordered an '09 B5 Blue Classic R/T Edition sight unseen when they started on taking orders. Got mine just before the shutdown at the end of April 09 and have been loving it since. After 6 years of payments it's all mine and I still get complaints of it, even from the Blue Oval guys and gals. I have just recently taking the resonators off the car to make it a little muscular sounding, although it changed to a deep tone it's not really what I was looking for but I like it. My next mod might be a pistol grip shifter. Yes it's automatic and yes they make them. http://www.mrnorms.com/new/Accessories/SHIFTERS.html#auto, Have fun with it, it's a great car. b-body fan Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Probably my favorite late model car!!! Ma Mopar did a great job on these. Too bad Plymouth isn't around any more to give us a 'Cuda on this platform. Imagine that body with a 71 'Cuda grill !! Drooling.
MrObsessive Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 Probably my favorite late model car!!! Ma Mopar did a great job on these. Too bad Plymouth isn't around any more to give us a 'Cuda on this platform. Imagine that body with a 71 'Cuda grill !! Drooling. Thanks! I get a LOT of looks (and compliments) over this car! Perfect strangers will come up to me at the gas station, or in a parking lot and they always have something nice to say about it. I've even had young kids who obviously wouldn't remember the original give me hoots and shouts as I've driven by. I haven't got this much attention over a car since I had my '69 AMX in the late '80's/early '90's. I still miss that one, but this is world's better than that AMX as I can drive on a long trip in complete comfort, and still burn up the road when needed. I thought I'd mind the automatic, but it shifts well on it's own and the manumatic shifter is a nice compromise. Just goes to show you that a well styled car will sell itself! Sales have been steadily increasing year after year if I read correctly. The biggest thing I like about the car is the proportions. Plenty of real estate between the front wheels and the doors for my long legs, and how Chrysler cleaned up the lines of the old Challenger, and brought it into the 21st century. I truly missed having a rear wheel drive car, and now I don't think there's any turning back!
Tom Geiger Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Thanks! I get a LOT of looks (and compliments) over this car! Perfect strangers will come up to me at the gas station, or in a parking lot and they always have something nice to say about it. I understand first hand! I had a bright red new Challenger for three days as a rental in Canada. I must've gotten complemented on the car a dozen times. It was embarrassing since it wasn't really mine!
horsepower Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Predictable, maybe. Easy, not so much! I drive a F150 daily in the snow and it will swap ends before you can say Oh cr@p! I hate traction control, just like I hate ABS. All the gizmos to save us from ourselves when we should be teaching better driving technique to start with! End rant. I know you will enjoy that beast! Yeah, I guess you would have to be a real dummy of a driver if you need traction control, that's why they put it on F-1 cars, and most racing organizations outlaw it. But since it's a standard item on all new cars I bet more organizations will legalize it. I seriously doubt if you have the reflexes to come anywhere near the control of any vehicle that traction control has. That's the reason that the first government requires vehicle stability control on all new cars, is to protect us from those drivers who think they can do just fine without it.
Robberbaron Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Still think the Challengers are the best looking new cars on the road. About 2 weeks ago my brother bought a 2014 100th Anniversary Edition Challenger R/T, in the exclusive metallic red. Very sharp car, and quite rare (never seen one before, and there are quite a few Challengers running around in our area). He told me that the very first day he took it for a drive, he was getting compliments, including from a Camaro SS driver. In overcast conditions, the paint just looks like a normal deep red metallic, but in the sun, it's almost a candy apple red, and very attention getting.
