Roadrunner
I'm leaning toward either green and black, or blue and black. It seems there are a zillion ways to paint them, so I have several ideas.
Roadrunner
OK, I've selected my colors; Testors Mystic Emerald and Blazing Black, both metallic lacquers. Assuming I don't muck it up, the scheme I'm visualizing should be quite attractive. Edited February 25, 2015 by Roadrunner
tbill
I like the sounds of this color scheme
Roadrunner
Me too, Tom. I spotted a green and black Peterbilt photo on the web, and decided that a modified version of that scheme might just look really cool. We'll see I guess. Roadrunner
What's a big rig, without something to drag around? To that end, I was recently able to snatch an AMT box trailer. Edited March 3, 2015 by Roadrunner
Petetrucker07
It's a nice kit, take your time putting the sides together. They can be a bit tricky to get square all the way around. It also has a very nice decal set. Lots of decals for a complete unit. Edited March 1, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Roadrunner
As seems typical with AMT kits (at least most of what I've seen), molded surface details are really quite decent, but fit is an altogether different issue. Given the sheer quantity of ejector pin marks, and other molding/fit issues, this trailer will never go into competition (at least not without a ton of work), so that should make slamming it together for the shelf, much easier. Roadrunner
Doors are a pretty lousy fit, so I've added some substantial strip stock, to prevent the doors from falling into the box while gluing in place, as there is only one small positive stop per door. Kit comes with some pretty cool AMT and Round 2 decals (as well as some others), but I'd prefer to find Revell, Hasegawa or Tamiya, if they're out there. Roadrunner
Coming along fairly rapidly now, and undercarriage components are being installed as best I can, though fit issues continue to be a concern.
Petetrucker07
It's lookin good so far. I remember fiddling around with the slider rails for the tandems.
Roadrunner
I just glued them in place, Clayton; too fiddly otherwise. The one thing I wish that I could adjust, is the stabilizing legs or whatever they're called. That way, I could display it separate from the rig, if desired. Mopar - D
Kevin your trailer is coming along nice.
Roadrunner
Once it starts to become solidified from adding all the sides and stuff, Dan, it sure seems a lot easier to handle. A few boo boos here and there, but overall I think it'll be OK.
Old Buckaroo
The trailer looks to be coming along smoothly in pictures. I haven't even opened the one I have to see what the decals everyone is bragging about.
Roadrunner
The aforementioned decals. Pretty cool; no DOT tapes though, so I'll have to seek those elsewhere.

Roadrunner
Yet another trailer, this time the AMT flatbed. (I’m beginning to think I like the trailers better than the trucks!) All things considered, AMT did a pretty good job on this, and with care, it has the potential to look really great.

Roadrunner
great lookin start Thanks. More suspension work has been done, but not enough to justify photos. The real fun will be painting the wooden deck. In fact, I need to determine if it'll be new decking, or old.
Ken Gilkeson
coming right along, like the colors you picked. (my wife is building a mini cooper the same colors)
