Casey Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 First, the previous topic from when this kit was pitched by IMC, which sadly, never came to pass: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48411&page=1 I guess this is a good sign for the ex-JO-HAN (then almost IMC) 1/25 '59 Rambler Cross Country Wagon kit finally being available: http://www.megahobby.com/59rambler-modelking.aspx Not sure if anyone involved with this kit can comment or not, but I'll take a tentative release date of April 2015 from MegaHobby as good news. MegaHobby is using the IMCbox art image, so I'm hoping Sean Svendsen will be involved if there is to be new box art for the Moebius/Model King version: Cue the "I'll believe it when I see it!" comments!
RAT-T Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 COOL, I'D LIKE TO SEE THE RAMBLER AMERICAN REPOPED
chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Is it me, or does that windshield have a dip in it?
FASTBACK340 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Is it me, or does that windshield have a dip in it? LOL! First picture posted is debated for accuracy !!!!!
unclescott58 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) Great news! Any reissue of any Jo-Han kit is great news! Let's hope we see more in the future. Scott Edited February 2, 2015 by unclescott58
southpier Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 i saw that yesterday on the mega-website and thought it would make a great woody
Chuck Most Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Is it me, or does that windshield have a dip in it? Probably. Keep in mind,though- this kit actually dates to 1959, long before anybody gave a rip about scale accuracy.
disabled modeler Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I am happy to see this coming back out...just hope they have the last issues tire and wheel problems fixed. Be great to see more of the old kits make a comeback that have not seen the light of day in over 30 years.
dublin boy Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 That's an odd looking Estate car, but if it has a Jo-han bodyshell I want one.
disabled modeler Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 That's an odd looking Estate car, but if it has a Jo-han bodyshell I want one. Shay...I believe its the same as the old Johan issued ones its a curbside if its like the last one re-issued.
Erik Smith Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 curbside? Not only curbside, but the chassis is pretty much a flat plate. Clear glass would be nice - the last Jo-Han crop had green. I hope it still has those massive devals sheets and surfboards.
johnbuzzed Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 i saw that yesterday on the mega-website and thought it would make a great woody If I remember correctly, the Johan kit came with woody decals.

I hope it still has those massive devals sheets and surfboards. I'm sure with the talented and knowledgeable folks here we can find some 50's chassis and engine that will get us in the ballpark.

There's not going to be much of anything, as the '59 was of unibody construction, not separate body-on-frame construction. JO-HAN did release this promo to showcase AMC's new unibody construction, though:
Young iron Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 What about Gremlin underpinnings ? That different ? Dunno much about AMC.
gbdolfans Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I really hope it does come with the massive decal sheets ,surfboards, and other extras the last reissue came with. I don't care if it is curbside or not,I will buy several.
bbowser Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Any longroof will be welcome, curbside or not!
Craig Irwin Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 What about Gremlin underpinnings ? That different ? Dunno much about AMC. The only Gremlin kit we have isn't much better, some people are building them with 67 Mustang parts.
dublin boy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Has anyone got a pic of one they built back in the day?
martinfan5 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 To bad its a curbside, could of been a nice kit
Casey Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 What about Gremlin underpinnings ? That different ? Dunno much about AMC. Slightly different a I think they went to ball joints up front by then. I think Dave Van posted this link to the trunnion front suspension setup in the Gremlin review topic, but there's really nothing in kit form quite like it: http://worldpowersystems.com/AMC/Front-suspension/index.html
