exesivefire Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 wow... its amazing what a bit of technology and some clean building skills can do. It sure is an exciting time to be in the hobby.
Foxer Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I'm enjoying your build and the custom work. The switches with the '57 parts is looking good.
502 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 This build is incredible, you have done some really nice clean work. I think a friend of mine may have tagged me in a picture of this truck on Facebook.
Revstew Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 This build is incredible, you have done some really nice clean work. I think a friend of mine may have tagged me in a picture of this truck on Facebook. Your name looks familiar and I think you were tagged in a Facebook post. Funny how small the world is thanks to this fancy interweb. What an awesome build Andy. Love them trucks! Some real nice modifications you've done. That 3d frame is badass, you should really think about selling those with all the accessories like the tanks, air compressors, etc. Besides the frame I really like what you did with the inside and outside of the bed. Then topped off with some clean ass lines from Kustoms Inc. I follow him on Instagram and everything he puts out is killer. What a great build, can't wait to see it done. Thank you Jason. I am going to try and upload some updated progress pics today. Thank you as well for the Kustoms Inc., props. He does great work and I will be sure to show him your kind words. What is your IG name? (You can PM it to me if you would like) Thank you for all the killer compliments and advice. It really helps keep the drive alive. More to come soon.
jeffs396 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Great work going on here! Love that frame! One thing though...AMT kinda got the shape of the door window opening wrong on these 55s. The window 'sill' should be parallel to the character lines below...correct-able, but not after paint
Tom Geiger Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 One thing though...AMT kinda got the shape of the door window opening wrong on these 55s. The window 'sill' should be parallel to the character lines below...correct-able, but not after paint AMT did correct that in later issues.
Impalow Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Uber cool!!! Man, this just fuels my want/need for a 3d printer. Amazing work!
Revstew Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 So here is pretty much where she is at so far. Got a second coat of paint and first coat of clear laid down. Underside of the bed. The center section still needs to be cut out for the frame clearances. shaved firewall and underside of the cab floor Cab and bed got some clear. Then added some lace work to the roof of the cab. The lace is HOK pearl white over the same HOK green that I used on the frame and suspension. While waiting for the clear and lace to dry I got the frame and components primed and painted. Went and added some matching HOK pearl white to the bed sides as well. Here is the first time the painted body and painted chassis met for a mock up and I am very happy with the way the accent green of the frame and suspension goes with the body color. Parts are now laid out and hoping to get going on assembly. Taking my time will be the biggest challenge I think. This is where my fat impatient fingers can be my worst enemy. Well that is all I got for now. Please continue to let me know your thoughts. I appreciate the input.
Belugawrx Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Love it so far,.... Ya lost me on the roof ..lace,.. and pin striping,... Keep it goin' Cheers
slusher Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Great color and paint. Nice touch on the lace..

My IG name is J_MB420 if your on there feel free to hit me up. Can't wait to see it all assembled.
Revstew Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Been a bit slow finding time to get back to the bench. Still waiting on the chrome to get here which is starting to add to the slow of assembly. Here is some of the latest progress for now. Not much but something LOL! Got the front suspension mostly assembled and ready for the motor to drop in once the headers are modified a little and the wiring is done. Pleased as well with how well the stamped control arms came out. for my first stab at them. Dashboard is done and I am still finishing up the steering wheel/column and redoing the seat before I add flocking and finish interior assembly.
JasonFL Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Looks good Andy, it's getting there. Can't wait to see it all finished and laid out.
Revstew Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Me too Jason. My chrome parts are in Post Office limbo right now so that is holding up a few things at this time. Frustration doesn't even begin to describe it. No wonder the Postal Service is going out of business.
RubiconGuy11 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) This is pretty cool, love the color. Good job! Edited February 26, 2015 by RubiconGuy11
jsc Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Guess it's a bit late to suggest chopping that top, huh? I've got a resin chopped top mated to the stepside, but don't like the way it sits in the frame. Yours is looking amazing!
Revstew Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 LOL yea its a little late for that. I have another one on the waiting list that will be getting a chop done to it and another one that is still on the drawing board. Thank you for the compliments!!
slusher Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Nice progress Andy. Great wheel and tire choice...
Revstew Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thank you Slusher. I am waiting for the post office to find my chrome and then I can wrap this puppy up.
hotrod66c10 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Love the frame really cool with what you can do with technology.hope my truck turns out half as cool.
Revstew Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Sorry for lack of updates on the Cameo lately. I am slowly working on assembly of the rear suspension and some then some final engine details. Had to step away from the bench for a bit and have a couple weeks to go still before I am back most likely. I am trying to finish the rebuild of my 1:1 show truck and am just about to get her into the paint booth and then I can get back to the build bench. Thank you though for all the comments and interest in my build.
Revstew Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Love the frame really cool with what you can do with technology.hope my truck turns out half as cool. I have been following your Apache build. You have nothing to worry about on coolness. That project looks like its a real killer.
