Fabrux Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I watched a couple episodes of their show the other day and was wondering what was in this thing for an engine.
Fat Brian Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 It's a 12 valve 5.9 Cummins like in a early nineties Dodge truck.
Force Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) I saw that car at the SEMA show last November. But I'm not really getting the diesel thing...why would anyone want to put a large hopped up diesel engine in a hot rod or car when the diesel fuel is a lot more expensive than gasoline (both in the US and over here), .It can't be for fuel efficiency as a hopped up diesel engine consumes plenty and it can't be because it's better, you get lots of torque but the fact that diesel engines has a narrower power band than gas engines doesn't help much... so it must be just to be different. farmallgray Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Probably because diesels are cool! To be different and also to show that you can get a lot of performance from a diesel. Most people only think of diesels for slow lugging power but there are a lot of drag racing diesels in everything from pickups to dragsters and funny cars that are changing peoples thinking.
