StevenGuthmiller Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Well, after contemplating this build since May, I finally got on it & finished it up. It went pretty well considering that I really didn't get a good start on it until the second week of February. I guess you could call this my version of a "quick build". This started life as a built up original issue AMT annual that I picked up on ebay. Built with mostly parts straight out of the box, with a few additions. The chrome parts were all redone & the up top, continental kit & tires are all from "Modelhaus". The color is a 1959 Cadillac color called "Argyle Blue" which, to my eye, looks very close to correct 1958 Ford "Silvertone Blue". I had it, so I went with it. Very glad I did, I love the color. Conventional wisdom would have dictated a white top & probably a white continental kit cover. I just liked the look of the blue conny cover & the blue top added a little touch of "Cadillac" class. Sorry, the pictures are of pretty low quality, but that's just the breaks sometimes. Steve Edited April 26, 2018 by StevenGuthmiller
Petetrucker07 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Beautiful build. Looks fantastic. The paint, the foil work, the rag top, all of it came out looking awesome.
72 Charger Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Very nice Steve . Ive been following the build and im glad that I did . You sure did a great job . I only hope I can do mine ( When it arrives ) to the same standard or close to it anyway. The colours that you chose are very nice. Pics look good to me too Edited March 2, 2015 by Doobie
gtx6970 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 OMG, Thats so bad you need to rid yourself of it quickly. Please pack it up ( carefully ) so I can help a brother out and dispose of it properly Kidding of course , but you can send it to me it anyway if you want
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks guys. I'll guess it will look much better in natural light Dave. But in Minnesota, outdoor life takes a vacation between November & April. Unless you're into ice fishing! Steve
High octane Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Steven, that Ford build is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. Absolutely "stunning!"
Porscheman Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Beautifully done Steve. The top looks fantastic!!!
Sixties Sam Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Wow! That is beautiful, the best 58 Ford model I've seen! Great work. Revell needs to make a 58 with the same quality as their 57! Sam
Ramfins59 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 That is one gorgeous car Steven. Everything is just perfect...... the colors......the connie kit...... the up top...... the interior... Fantastic job.
59-Desoto Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Wow 1st class all the way, seeing an old screw bottom car brought back like this make my old heart skip a beat. A gorgeous piece of fine artwork.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Wow! That is beautiful, the best 58 Ford model I've seen! Great work. Revell needs to make a 58 with the same quality as their 57! Sam Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised to see one some day in the future. Steve
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks guys! My intention was to start a really nice '59 Bonneville next, but I hadn't decided on a color until a short time ago, so I had to order paint & it'll be a couple of weeks until it arrives. To kill the time, I think I'll finally build a '62 Chrysler 300. I've been meaning to do that for about 30 years! I think it's about time! Steve
YBlock292 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Steve, that's a gorgeous model You created! I love the old Fullsize Fords and this one of 1958 is a very rare one in the 1:25 "world". Best regards (from a 1:1 owner of a 62 Ford Galaxie) Ludwig
christian-w Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Great car, really nice built and the colors matching great together. Love it
peekay Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Wonderful!!! I doubt there are many people on this planet who could make that kit look that good!
