Stray Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) I have tried searching but cannot find the info I need. So, does anyone know for sure if a 67 Chevelle had a mechanical throttle linkage complete from pedal to carby? Was it all cable? Half and half maybe? I am adding throttle detail to the carb and just going to run a cable through to the firewall, but if it is mechanical as most of the 60's Holdens had over here I may just have to scratchbuild the whole thing. ______________________________________ 2nd Question: I have searched google AGAIN and cannot find any reference for this question... What we call a parcel shelf over here you americans refer to as a rear package tray, that much I found out. But I can't find any pics of the stock versions. Do anyone know if they were just covered in the same vinyl as the seats/doors etc? Were they carpeted with the same stuff as the floor? Also this AMT kit has a speaker and boot vent(?) detail on it (pic below). Were these chrome or black or coloured the same as the vinyl interior? Thanks in advance for anyone who replies Edited March 23, 2015 by Stray
1930fordpickup Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Google search 67 Chevelle throttle linkage you will get some good pictures. You just have to figure what the stock ones are. It seems that it is a linkage and not a cable.
Stray Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Yeah Andy that is what I did. From what I can tell it is a mechanical linkage, but a lot of modified motor pics have cable setups and half/half when it seems the carby and/or engine has been changed. I think I may just scratch up a linkage for it. Thanks for the reply mate
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Rod 1 should be bent to clear the dropped base of the open element air cleaner but the 325hp engine uses the same rod. The straight rod is for a small block. As for photos of what's 'correct' that'd take up some time. For the base L35 325hp engine there were those with positive ventilation (breather in passenger side valve cover) and closed positive ventilation and/or A.I.R (with vent tube from air cleaner to valve cover and/or air injection reactor) just to name two major flavors. Rod connects directly to a bellcrank pivoted at the firewall, and working directly off the accelerator pedal, similar to this (upper illustration, below). Edited March 11, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Stray Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Ahhh THANKYOU ACE! That top image I found, but the bottom one is perfect. Exactly what I was needing. Thanks again
Greg Myers Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 All that and pictures too ? Who woulds thunk ?
Cato Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Ace has it right. My brand new '67 396 / 375 had the rod and arm and a 780 cfm Holley.
ChrisBcritter Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) The "vent" on the left is a rear window defogger. The covering (IIRC from being around a lot of old GM '60s cars) is usually 1/8" hardboard with a laminated leather-grain finish colored to match the interior. Edited March 23, 2015 by ChrisBcritter
1930fordpickup Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 What Chris says goes with the old Chevys I have been around. The 69 Camaro my buddy was restoring had that vent as an option it was black just like the rest of the interior was. These were an option so you could sand it off if you wanted to.
Stray Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Ah thanks Chris. Just the answer I needed. Yeah Andy I could sand them but don't wanna screw around with the paint now. I might either flock over them or just give them a detail wash. Thanks for replying dudes
